James Perkins - Vice President of Education - put on an incredible event tonight where students have the opportunity to thank those who have had a great impact in their life. The thing I loved about tonight was that it wasnt only to celebrate the amazing academics- it included all staff working in the university - i.e. catering staff etc. Speaking to some of the ladies in the canteen who were nominated for an award was interesting- they hadnt been at an event where they were being catered for at the university. They told me how it was normally the other way around. You could also tell it meant the world to them to have been nominated. I told them they dont actually realise how much of an impact they have on peoples lives. Sometimes the people who serve my coffee each day have the power to turn my bad day into a good one - thats pretty immense. Thank you James for giving an opportunity to reward the amazing things that can easily go unnoticed. It clearly meant a lot to a lot of people. Well done to all those nominated and awarded! It was inspiring to witness.
