For every one that we, or others, rescue, it feels that 10 take their place. I do not understand the human heart that can look into the eyes of an animal and feel nothing. I do not understand the human heart that can take an animal into their home and not care enough, at the very least, to have it altered. I do not understand the human heart that can turn their pet out, or walk away and leave it, alone and heartbroken. I do not understand the human heart, that when they cannot afford medical care for one animal, they can dump or turn out that animal, believing that a person, or rescue, caring for many cats, can. We cant....and so we not only bear the sorrow of your abandoned animal, we bear the burden of trying to help them. We bear your burden, while you sleep a peaceful sleep. Tonight I am angry, but more than angry, I am deeply sad.
