Jan Lehde shared a link. 3 hours ago · Edited . Unfortunately, fortunately, I saw a post this morning that was very upsetting. The site was from an touristing, American, photographer depicting the remains of the ancestors of many of my friends and neighbours, where I live in Alert Bay. What was truly disturbing is that the photos were taken on an kayaking trip with Tommy Sewid of Adventures Village Island (an Aboriginal tourism business near Alert Bay, where I live). One photo showed Tommy Sewid opening a grave box. I wonder at the scruples and integrity, of such a man, to dishonour and disrespect such a sacred and private place with tourists visiting our area. I commented at the photographers website and the photos are now locked and my comment, concerning posting these photos for sale, was removed. Im glad she did the right thing in removing her photos in answer to my concerns that these photos were upsetting and inappropriate. Now I ask my community what can be done in light of Tommy Sewids business practices of invading old Native grave sites in our area? (I realize that some of this content may me sensitive to my local friends and neighbours, but my sense of rightness and respect calls me to bear witness to this disrespect of your ancestors ♥) Ive only posted this video so that others, not in my area, will know who this man is and the name of his business. Native Watchman my @$$.
