Jana D. Javakhishvili Contact, South Caucasus Network Jana (Darejan) Javakhishvili is a Georgian psychologist who has been working in trauma research, training and treatment since 1995. She provides psychological assistance to individuals who have been traumatized in armed incidents. Since 2002 she has been heavily engaged in the field of conflict transformation as a facilitator for peace building events in Georgia and the South Caucasus. At the Tbilisi office of the Global Initiative on Psychiatry, she is responsible for the implementation of projects focused on mental health in the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Jana is a founding board member of the Georgian Society of Psychotrauma. She is the co-author of 18 books in Georgian, Russian and English published in Georgia, England, Norway, Russia and the United States. She is currently working on a book summarizing her experience as a facilitator. She is one of the initiators and facilitators (lecturing professor) of a Mental Health/Psychotraumatology Masters’ Program at Ilia State University (the largest university in Georgia), which is functional since October 2012. Becoming a board member of ESTSS will help her to keepthe masters’ program curricula corresponding to the European standards and newest evidence and to bridge Ilia State University with the relevant European institutions and academic events (like ECOTS).
