January 11-12 Storm REVIEW: Going into Sunday afternoon I knew it would be a challenging forecast and thats what it proved to be. I did my best to warn how the importance of 1 to 2 degrees could mean the difference between freezing rain and cold rain. Attached is our final forecast before the event began (issued early Sunday afternoon) and the adjusted map prior to the 11pm show Sunday night... when it was evident the warm layer pushed about 20 miles farther north and that downtown Indy would dodge the bullet. This put the southern half of the viewing area in mainly the cold rain. Along and south of I-70 is what Im least satisfied with regarding the forecast. The lack of power outages fit my thinking and the heaviest icing north of I-70 was in line with our initial thoughts. Definitely not a slam dunk, but I honestly didnt expect one given the complexity of the temperature profile and issues the snow pack posed. Until we meet again :) #INwx #Indy
