January 15, 2014 From The Principal Dear Parents, It has certainly been a devastating week for our school community. It is very difficult to understand how this can be happening to such a beautiful, caring, academically excellent school. We are still hoping for a miracle but we will be prepared if it doesn’t work out. • Within the next couple of weeks we will have information available at the office from the neighboring Catholic schools. Students will be permitted to shadow at a school and will be given an “excused absence.” • We are also in the midst of planning “Celebrate St. Bernadette” days. They will be held once a month on a Friday. Students will have a dress down day, a special assembly or activity will be planned along with a treat. More details to follow. * * * Meanwhile, we are planning a great Catholic Schools Week. There is a flyer included in today’s correspondence. The students will perform a few songs in O’Brien Hall after the 10:30 am Mass. We also are hosting our annual Book Fair in O’Brien Hall. The 5-8th graders will display their Science Fair projects in the Junior High hall. Please plan on joining us for the 10:30 am Mass and Open House from 11:30 am -12:30 pm. Today you will receive a PowerSchool letter for your individual child. The information in this letter will enable you to go on PowerSchool and see your child’s grades and attendance. If you have any problems or questions, do not hesitate to call. Be sure to check your child’s backpack for the envelope. Included in today’s correspondence is the form for Parent/Teacher Conferences on Friday, January 24. Please note: ■ Preschool will have mandatory conferences at this time. All preschool parents are expected to sign-up for a time to meet with Ms. Power. Preschool will not be in session this day. ■ Conferences for Grades K-8 are optional. If you do not wish to meet with your child’s teacher, do not return any forms. There is an early dismissal at 11:30 am this day and conferences will follow from 1:00-7:30 pm. Extended Day is available until 6:00 pm. Hot lunch will NOT be available so be sure to send a lunch with your child if they will be attending Extended Day after school. ■ Teachers may be sending requests for particular students. Is this cold, snowy winter weather giving you “cabin fever?” Join us this Friday night, January 17 for Karaoke Night in O’Brien Hall at 7:00 pm. The cost is $5 per person at the door. Bring your own beverage and snacks. We’ll just relax together and HAVE FUN! Must be 21 and over to attend. Thank you for your continued support, Mrs. Arlene Baumann
