January 17, 1948: BIRTHDAY -- Mick Taylor Taylor is best known as guitarist for the Rolling Stones from the Summer of 1969 to his resignation in December, 1974. He contributed to three of bands most regarded albums, LET IT BE (limited roll), STICKY FINGERS, and EXILE ON MAIN STREET. The band also released GOAT HEAD SOUP and ITS ONLY ROCK N ROLL during his tenure. TATTOO YOU, and album creatively compiled from older session work also includes Mick Taylors guitar work on Tops and Waiting on a Friend. In what was billed as possibly the Stones farewell concerts in December, 2012, Mick Taylor returned for cameo rolls on Midnight Rambler and Satisfaction. The band then has gone on more extensive tours across the US in 2013, Europe and the Pacific Rim in 2014 -- Taylor played cameo rolls in those concerts as well. Mick Taylors first big break was working with John Mayalls Bluesbreakers replacing Peter Green who had replaced Eric Clapton. Taylor began with their third album through the summer of 1969. Hes also had a modest solo career and done some session work including some stellar work on Bob Dylans album, INFIDELS working with Mark Knopfler who produced the album. NOTE: Sway the song presented here featurings Mick Jagger taking Keith Richards customary roll as the lead-in guitarist. Mick Taylors work is the blazing solo work. Nicky Hopkins contributes on piano. Paul Buckmaster, who did the lavish arrangements on Elton Johns self-titled album, created the string arrangement.
