January 19, 2015 Monday 2nd hoof trim & lets jump over Pam. Zazu got his second hoof trimming today with my wonderful barefoot trimmer, Jenny. Can’t believe it’s time already, but Zazu will be 6 months old on the 24th. The trimming went fairly smoothly. I was surprised that Zazu was timid of Jenny. We saved him for last and trimmed the other five horses in front of his pen. He was very interested and watched intently with an occasional running, bucking and kicking between horses. This video shows the whole trim. However, we missed the money shot when an old fat woman in pajamas got run over by a zorse!! We were setting up for Zazu’s trimming in front of the mini’s pen and I placed a chair right at the gate so I could sit and hold Zazu beside the pen. LOL, that was the beginning of a good plan, at least I thought so. I had Doug hold Zazu while I went and got my water, camera and Zazu’s carrots for treats. I had no sooner sat down in the chair when I looked up and saw Zazu sprinting full speed, pulling Doug along at a run, headed for the small space between the chair and the pen. Zazu made a flying leap over me, I don’t know how he missed me, but Doug knocked my chair over and I went with the chair. It was kinda in slow motion, because I remembered thinking: This is not good……. Protect the left artificial knee…….. Wow, the sky is really blue today. I ended up landing on my right shoulder and arm. If you look in the video, you can see the dirt on my back and some kind of yellow skid mark. No clue what the yellow streaks are, but it didn’t brush off. Probably carrot juice from me squishing them. Must have pulled a muscle in my arm because now I can’t raise my arm above my chest. It doesn’t hurt if I don’t try to move it upwards but it is really painful if I forget and go past its limited range of motion. So, am now taking two days off work since I have to do a lot of reaching, holding and lifting there. I don’t know why, but the tune of “Grandma got run over by a reindeer†keeps replaying in my head with different words inserted. youtu.be/cR-qYUBwy5M
