January 24, 2014: On December 4, 2013 at approximately 12:49am the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible burglary in Monona. Upon arrival the deputy met with the reporting party and upon further investigation it was found that Joseph Ryan Miltier 21 of Monona had committed a theft by entering an apartment taking an Xbox360 game console that did not belong to him. Miltier was not immediately found and an arrest warrant was issued for him. On January 7th 2014 Miltier was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Marquette. Miltier was transported to the Clayton County Jail where he is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree a Class De Felony. He is currently being held on bond. On January 5, 2014 at approximately 5:06am a Clayton County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped on Highway 52 near Garber Rd to assist a stopped motorist. While helping the motorist the deputy observed signs of possible illegal drug use. The driver, identified as Merlin Bailey 23 of Colesburg, attempted to conceal items in his vehicle raising the suspicion of the deputy. One of the items that was attempted to be concealed was found to contain Methamphetamine. Bailey was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine a serious misdemeanor. On January 7th, 2014 at 1:56am the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic assault that was taking place in rural McGregor. Upon arrival officers and deputies found that Nathan Slaughter had been assaulted by his girlfriend Tina Sepe. Sepe was subsequently placed under arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where she was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault-serious misdemeanor. Slaughter was charged with possession of paraphernalia. He was cited and released. The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Mar Mac Police Department. On January 9th, 2014 at 10:30am the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of domestic abuse assault taking place in Strawberry Point. Upon investigation it was determined that Alan Petersen 28 of Strawberry Point, had assaulted his girlfriend. Petersen was subsequently arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol. On January 18, 2014 at 7:30pm a Clayton County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call of a vehicle in the ditch at Diplomat Rd and Dove Avenue. While making contact with the driver, identified as Rodney Cox 53 of McGregor, the deputy observed clues of impairment. Cox consented to field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, Failure to Maintain Control and Use of Electronic Communications Device While Driving. On January 19, 2014 at 7:46pm an off duty deputy sheriff was inside the Speede Shoppe in Garnavillo when he observed an intoxicated male. An on duty deputy came to the scene and observed the same male. The male was identified as Noah Sadewasser 25 of Garnavillo. Sadewasser was subsequently arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Public Intoxication. On January 21st. 2014 at 3:39pm the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an alleged domestic abuse assault taking place in the city of Monona. While conducting the investigation deputies arrested Denny Reger 57 of Monona for Interference with Official Acts. He was transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was held pending an appearance before a magistrate. “The filing of a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt”.
