January 30, 2014 As January draws to an end, how many of you have - TopicsExpress

January 30, 2014 As January draws to an end, how many of you have kept up with resolutions you made at the beginning of the year? How many of them have already fallen by the wayside. Several years ago, I stopped making resolutions and started tuning them into prayers and adding them to my journal. I learned giving my desires to God rather than trying to achieve them myself kept me in His will and not my own. You start a diet but we all know diets dont work, eating a balanced nutritional diet every day is the key to loosing weight and maintaining it. You want to look great by summer but you give up going to the gym. You want to save money but you never keep a monthly budget and wonder where the money went to. You get the picture, we have all been there. How can we have a deeper walk with God if we dont stay consistent? Ask any marathon runner and they will tell you the key to their success is not their shoes or their runwear, but consistent daily training is what makes them winners. The best Bible and the best intentions will never bring you a closer to God. It takes making time to put Him first everyday and follow the four provisions we have talked about; saturate your life with the Word, desire Gods Word, develop a prayer life and be consistent in your walk. I used Jesus like hitting the easy button expecting him to fall from the sky and solve whatever situation I was going through. Thank goodness that didnt push him away or make Him love me any less. When I began approaching Gods Word consistently, my life began to change. I am prepared for the changes and challenges when they come instead of them overwhelming me. My life was filled with anxiety and worry. Now that I have a daily personal relationship with Christ I have peace and hope. My resolutions are prayers I am taking to the feet of God and seeing the goodness in my life more than I ever did before. I challenge you as we move into February to apply the provisions to having a deeper walk with Jesus in your life. I hope your resolutions become prayers. I pray you are blessed like God desires to bless your life, he is just waiting for you to come. Philippians 4:19 And My God shall apply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
