January 8, 2015 When they arrived at the place where God had told him to go, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. Then he tied his son, Isaac, and laid him on the altar on top of the wood. Gen 22:9 NLT What a way to start the 21 day fast and devotion preparing for this trip to Honduras for “our sons”. I can honestly say that this time around is much more difficult for me spiritually and emotionally, as I already know what lies when I get there. Can you imagine the mental stress Abraham had as he walked hand in hand with his only son that Him and Sarah has been praying for? I can only phantom what each step was like as Abraham looked down at his son, knowing that his son didn’t have a clue of what was about to happen….. I get emotional just thinking about it.. But the parallels of our relationship with God in this one story are so many. What if we placed God as Abraham walking his son (me, you, us) up that mountain…. Isaac didn’t have a clue of what was about to happen. Abraham told Isaac, come follow me, and Isaac did not resist as Isaac placed his full trust in his father. Tuesday night, I was talking to Mason about how he needs to trust me on the path that I am leading him on. That I would never do or let anything happen to him that will hurt him. That everything decision that I make is for his protection……… That my love for him is unspeakable and to just let go of the world. So, today I realize I’m nothing but a hypocrite …. God has asked the exact thing from me. Juan, follow me. Let go. Trust me. I will never forsake you. Juan, Everything I do for you is for your good. What is keeping you from grabbing God’s hand and talking a walk with him? As for me… it’s control.
