January 9, 1965: MILESTONE -- BEATLES 65 BEATLES 65 started a 9 week run with their 4th album to hit #1 in the US. What we didnt know didnt hurt us! The album was a horrible rip-off. It consisted of only eight of the fourteen songs on its British counterpart, BEATLES FOR SALE. Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey, Eight Days a Week, Words of Love, Every Little Thing, I Dont Want to Spoil the Party, and What Youre Doing were omitted. Eight Days a Week and I Dont Want to Spoil the Party would be the bands next single, but these songs wouldnt be released in the US until the following June on BEATLES VI. Some hip radio stations got copies of the British album leaking these songs to the US audience much to Capitol Records dismay. BEATLES 65 also included the single (not on BEATLES FOR SALE), I Feel Fine / Shes a Woman and a leftover track from the UK A HARD DAYS NIGHT, Ill Be Back. The album was clearly made to be heard in mono as I Feel Fine and Shes a Woman appeared in especially shrill fake stereo. However, most of us were listening to mono back then. It was a new Beatles album. It rocked. We were happy. https://youtube/watch?v=ILdBDOPoEDQ
