January is Blood Donor Month. Blood is traditionally in short supply during the winter months, but this is especially true in January. Holidays, travel schedules, inclement weather, and illness can all reduce blood donor turnout. This in turn can mean a drop in our nation’s blood inventory at a critical time of year. January has been designated as National Blood Donor Month to encourage donors to give or pledge to give blood.
