January is Cervical Health Awareness Month! Regular screening can help prevent cancer by finding changes in cells and treating them before they become cancerous. Women over age 21 should get a Pap test every three years until they reach age 65. Those with high risk for cervical cancer may need more frequent screening. If you are uninsured, you may be eligible for a free cervical cancer screening. You can get more information at health.ny.gov/diseases/cancer/services/ or by calling (718) 226-6447.
