Japan Trip Update! Hi friends and family! We have spent the past several days working alongside a local church here, learning much about evangelism and the ministry context of Japan, and eating delicious food! Shiogama Bible Baptist Church has a continuous ministry to temporary housing locations and we have been joining in with them in their efforts to love and care for those displaced by the tsunami in 2011. There are still many elderly people who have been living in government housing since the tsunami. Although the tsunami has been extremely devastating in Sendai, God is using it to open up new evangelistic opportunities that have never existed before. Today we visited a Shinto shrine and prayed for the people praying to their ancestors and worshipping idols at the shrine. It was a very impacting experience. Our team is learning a great deal about what is occurring here in Japan and the state of the Gospel. We are wrestling with the fact that Japan is less than 1% Christian, approximately 30,000 people commit suicide every year, and it is the largest homogeneous unreached people group in the world. Please pray for Japan. Pray for the churches. Pray for the movement of God’s Spirit among the people here. Pray for the evangelistic opportunities that have occurred since the tsunami. Pray for God to send long-term missionaries to devote themselves to reaching the lost. Pray for God to glorify Himself among Japan and all the nations of the world.
