Japan will return to Antarctica for scientific whaling in 2015. Only 2 days after the ICJ verdict, Japan Fishery Agency, in charge of the whaling program announced today at a meeting with the Liberal Democratic Party (governement), that they would be returning to antarctica in december 2015 with a new research program. No Antarctic whaling will take place until then as they need to submit a new plan to the International Whaling Commision Scientific Committee 6 months prior to the starting date. The next IWC Scientific committee is to be held in May of this year but it is to late to draft and submit a plan in time.
