Japanese Market Analysis and Forecast: Japanese wholesale auctions markets were very weak today and will continue to be through next week. There will be 150+ pieces of Boston and Canadian bluefin to be sold this Monday in Japan. Chubby Fish has 65 pieces for sale Monday. Iceland also will have long line fish for sale next week. Thankfully they have filled their 30 ton quota for 2014 and are finished as of today. Japanese local markets are also over supplied and exhausted and the prices in these markets will be even weaker than Tsukiji. We will lean on our relationships and negotiate the best we can this Monday. Thankfully Toichi (Tsukiji) and Marusui (Sapporo), the two biggest markets for bluefin, are friends and big customers of GSF/Chubby. Monday sales will be extremely challenging. There will be numerous fish that will require direct negotiations after the market on Monday. Time to go to battle stations.
