Jared Groce House, 1830s Eastaboga, Alabama This outstanding I-house was unfortunately demolished a few years ago after being inherited by distant relatives who had no desire to maintain or sell the structure. Consisting of an 1830s cabin to the rear of the main house, a Greek revival semi-detached kitchen and an 1840s main house at the front, the house featured beautifully intact woodwork and faux bois painted doors inside. Today nothing remains other than the old family cemetery behind the home site. A truly devastating loss for Alabama.
