Jasmin Says Just an update( YOu can post - just to let all the people who commented back know that yesterday was successful) We went to my nephews 6th bday party and all the kids were playing on the tarp under the hose (we are from Australia) and i thought to include him so i got him ready to go but could tell he wasnt having it so i just let him do what he felt he wanted to do. The whole time 3-4 hours he was in his own world, walking around playing with rocks, going up to people and then walking away, was happy eating cake, drinks, all the goodies lol and pretty much was a great day for us. I was asked about how i am coping with two kids now, and i was upfront, i said he is nonverbal and has learning difficulties. Felt better for letting people know this as everyone just let him be didnt try to pick him up or force anything. So we will be going to the next few gatherings if that day permits hahah i still am anxious and have a lot of things i need to work on myself but the only way people can accept others is through being exposed to it and having compassion and empathy for others. I do understand that he sees things differently and that he will be judged but everyone goes through that one war or another. I am stronger for having such great support from the online Autism Community and many days i find myself re reading what many of you write for comfort, strenghtm guidance and sometimes for a little giggle. I love my son and will ride this roller coaster right beside him tears, laughs, screams and all. Thankyou everyone for your advice. Wish everyone the best over the next few weeks and new year:)
