Jasmin Searcy – JSU Alumnae Highlights for Women’s History Month by Jackson State University March 27, 2014 jasmin searcyName: Jasmin Searcy Graduation Year: 2008 Major: Psychology Current Residency: Jackson, MS Current Employment Status: Instructor of Psychology/ Doctoral Candidate of Clinical Psychology Favorite quote: “Lord, if I can help someone along the way, my living will not be in vain.” Ms. Searcy was featured in Ebony magazine as Miss JSU through 2007-2008 and has earned many awards for her dedication to community service. She also serves as a guest writer for the Jackson Free Press newspaper and VIP Magazine. Ms. Searcy has given countless motivational and mental health seminars to various audiences to include community and social groups, and other organizations such as the American Psychological Association. She is a also a member of the esteemed Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and was inducted into Who’s Who in Black Mississippi in 2010 to name a few. Ms. Searcy earned a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD in 2010. Because of her passion for helping others she decided to continue her education by pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and is now a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Candidate. Once Ms. Searcy receives her Ph.D., her ultimate career goal is to open up a private practice in Mississippi and provide therapy, diagnose and treat individuals who may suffer from different forms of psychopathology.
