Javeed Bin Nabi Geelani hails KU students for sittingthrough the anthem ‘India may rule us but won’t conquer hearts’ =>Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday lauded the role of Kashmir University students to convey in a dignified and peaceful manner to Chief Justice of India andother participants that India has nolegal or moral right over the state of Jammu & Kashmir. In a statement issued here, Geelanisaid as students and faculty members of KU’s Law department did not stand when anthem of India was being played I personally feel happy and satisfied. “The students have conveyed that though through its power India may rule and run the state affairs but can neither conquer our hearts nor suppress our passion for our birth right,” Geelani said. Praising the intellectuals and students, Geelani expressed satisfaction and said, “Youth are very sensitive for their political future and are not confused about the resistancemovement. I hail the students for their mature thinking and heroic stand to convey to Indiathat it has no right to rule and it is through their military power that they justify their occupation,” he added. Geelani in his statement criticized theauthorities said administration since long has been trying to makehere a political arena and instead of concentrating over educational activities their activities are focused to politicize this institution(KU) and promote cultural activities. Last time Rahul Gandhi visited the university and since then membership drive has been launchedfor Congress and other pro India parties, said Geelani. Criticizing the role of some officers, Geelani said the students are not being allowed to join or launch thepolitical party of their choice, whileon other hand the pro Indian parties are being provided support and assistance in all their political activities. Hurriyat (G) Chairman expressed satisfaction that a majority of students has “disassociated”itself from this typeofpolitics.
