Jayci Update: She is requiring more ventilator support today as her oxygen level dropped through the night. It has come up now but with extra vent support. They will try to ease it back down as she tolerates. They are feeding her through her NG tube but cant increase the rate until her blood pressure raises some (shes now 70s/30s...her baseline is 90s/50s). Also her belly is pretty distended and she is still very swollen. Theyll be giving her some albumin/lasix to try to pull some of the fluid off of her. Still no plan to do surgery today but it does sound like it will likely happen (for all my nurse/dr friends, theyre concerned about a bronchopleural fistula if they do it too soon...as soon as the benefits outweigh the risk theyll probably take her in to drain it) Her hemoglobin has dropped again but theyre just going to watch it for now.
