Jealousy and envy are closely related in meaning but theyre definitely different in outcome. Love can be jealous at times, but its certainly never envious. Jealousy is an occasionally legitimate response to the fear of losing someone you love. As long as its kept under control, it is a harmless condition (jealousy is not an emotion; fear is the emotion). However, do not let it grow because it can result in defeat and loss when misused. Only use jealousy as a driving force to challenge yourself to be a better partner and making yourself more available. Envy denotes a longing to possess something awarded to or achieved by another person after comparing what they have with what you dont have. It is something you think you deserve more so than that of the other person which often causes you to become bitter and resentful of their success and achievement. This condition, based on your thoughts, causes you to feel angry with an undue degree of emotional discord but can also entice a strong desire for you to possess equal advantages; an extrinsic motivator.
