Jeremiah 17:5-8 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. Looking at this passage, we see that the Lord speaking through Jeremiah tells them that cursed is the man that trust in mans ways, that leans on the strength of man. Remember we have read before in Isaiah 30:1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: Then also in Isaiah 31:1 Woe unto them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord! Jeremiah says that the man that tray in man and in mans ways shall be like the heath of the desert and not see when good comes and he shall inhabit the barren land in the wilderness that is uninhabitable. But the man that trust in the Lord, shall be like a tree that is planted by the waters, that spread its roots by the river. That tree is strong and unmovable, that tree doesnt have to work about the drought. Even in the hard and dry times, they tree is still able to bring forth fruit. We need to understand that we need to learn to trust in God, and not in ourselves. We have such a tendency to want to maintain control of our lives, when we really need to relinquish control over to the Lord of our God!!!!!! The bible tells us to totally submit ourselves to Him and to allow Him to be in control. Proverbs 3:5-7 tells us to Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. When we learn to trust in the Lord and allow Him to have total control, then we will find that we CAN stand strong in the evil days. The book of James tells us to Submit ourselves therefore to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you!!!!! But it all starts with us Submitting ourselves to God!!!!!!!! Remember Phillipians tells us that we can do all things through Christ Jesus which strengthens us. Remember this is because when we become submissive to Christ, it is Him that works through us. The reason that we struggle so often living the life that we want to is because we have such a hard time humbling ourselves before Him and relinquishing control of our lives to the Lord!!!!!!!! If we can ever learn to do this and HUMBLE ourselves before Him and let Him be in control, then the droughts wont bother us, the hard times will not distract us or discourage us. We will be able to stand in the evil day. Remember I have told you before that the great D.L Moody once said that it remains to be seen what God can do with a man that will totally submit himself to Him. He said that he wanted to be that man. Dear friends, I want to be that man too!!!!!!! Do You? GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
