How would the days look like? How would the face look of the electorates and candidates be? What look will the chins of the PDP and APC gladiators wear? And most of all how will Imoke feel? After the critical struggle between our amiable governor, Senator Liyel Imoke of the soon to or rather might collapse Cross River State to fight off the scourge that he is supporting his compatriot, friend in trouble and struggle as his successor, Mr. Gershom Bassey, Director General Cross River State Water Board Limited from 1999 till 2014, 15 years against the zoning formula which gave birth to Imoke’s elections and appointment (s) not just in his first governorship election cancelled after about one year in office and the second but in all public offices he has held as Senator, Minister Power and Steel, Special Adviser to the President on Utilities among others. The fearful battle which lasted for years that is if its truly dead as Gersh; Gershom Bassey fondly called have truly forgotten the untamable ambition which was pampered with the venom of a viper, as confidential source of CrossRiverWatch was quoted saying that ‘the 2015 governorship ambition of Gershom Bassey has been put on hold and he has been promised the Southern Senatorial District ticket which means he has Prince Otu and Chief Ekpo Okon to battle with’, as published on the second of September, 2014, 6:00pm prompt. The entire scenes of these and other political struggles for power in the state has been on set before the advent of he, Imoke’s predecessor, Mr. Donald Duke’s tenure which he Imoke concord to during the Hon. Essien Ayi empowerment where he professed the existence of an in-house core members of his party that can’t be washed off because of their seeds sown, I vividly recall him saying that the fore runners of the ruling People Democratic Party, PDP of Cross River axis which started in his house/pallor in Lagos between 1994 and 1996 had a plan, a sketch board of ideas which till date has not been actualized, I wonder when they will considering the state of affairs of things in the state. But thinking deeply, you can easily notice that their Lagos cartel came to install PDP against all odds where Gershom Bassey was a General which after several seeds he sowed was rewarded with a quite place to hide and learn more tactics which clearly materialized as he Gershon on several occasions attended state exco meetings which his colleagues per strata say is illegitimate, truly water board performed and is still performing under him but if his presence in the state exco is responsible for his departments performance, all DG’s should be allowed to participate in exco to give them edge of performing better too and make our dear state better. Now he, Gersh says he is not interested in governorship or any office yet but we kept seeing posters of Gershon Bassey 2015 without any ambition openly stated and the good thing about Gershom and his Southern people is that they speak in one voice be it good or bad which this time will cause major divide in their politics if Gersh still nurse the governorship ambition I foresee but thank the cosmic he wants Senate which Sen Liyel Imoke is willing to give him even if it will make him unknowingly to him be measured as an enemy of progress as he choose to terminate the second term of the sweet prince as he is mostly called, prince Bassey Otu which is his right (benefit) which him Imoke enjoyed all round and preached. Nobody will tell me that a sitting governor or president in the circumstance Nigeria finds itself where public officers are primitively corrupt will in no way have grave interest in who succeeds him and will shy from doing anything possible to plant for him, a successor except the people does not will it. I put it clear to Governor Imoke that he has interest, I don’t believe him but if he says he is no more interested in the three wise men arrangement which will only lead to destruction, increase of hate and injustice against and among the united people of Cross River State. If he says he has abandoned that dream which should only be a dream, only after 2015 will he be believed and perhaps taken as the saint he wants us to see him as, let me remind us that some people are so systematic that they shade everything possible to allow you see only what you see and make you think it’s the real thing not minding your level of trust and commitment even the after math effects but at the end of the day turn tiger, displace your trust which we have seen in so many elections, or selection rather as election has lost its true meaning and bearings in this state; the first Federal Capital Territory, FCT of Nigeria before moving to Lagos, then Abuja which is suppose to be a sacred tourism haven in the country of today even more than the west.
