Jeremy Weyrauch, who has been charged with a Class AA felony of conspiracy to commit murder in the Jack Sjol case, appeared in court for a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon. Attorney Kevin McCabe, who defended Weyrauch, said he did not see evidence that the case should go forward at all. “The state’s case seems weak,” McCabe said. “My client has strong ties to the community. “He wants to continue working and he has family here. His father posted his bond for him. We still don’t know what he’s being held on. We don’t know his tie to the murder.” Judge Joshua B. Rustad assured McCabe that the state had received a sworn testimony related to the Sjol case which provided probable cause against Weyrauch. Rustad did not go into detail on the testimony. State’s Attorney Kirsten Sjue said the strength of the evidence was not relevant to the defendant’s bond. “It’s based on whether or not there is a flight risk and the safety of the community,” Sjue said. Weyrauch is being held on multiple other charges: ingesting a controlled substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernelia. These charges were not included with the $1 million bond for his conspiracy to commit murder charge. Rustad ruled to include the other charges with the $1 million bond, thus reducing the total amount of bond Weyrauch’s family would have had to pay for the separate charges. Weyrauch will appear in court again on Aug. 13. willistonherald/news/weyrauch-asks-for-lower-bond/article_34c4b448-f53f-11e2-8bc0-0019bb2963f4.html
