Jeremy, the 2003 bay horse, sire of Our Conor and Kool Kompany died today. He sustained an injury at exercise yesterday, which required surgery. He broke bones in his carpal joint after recovering from the anaesthetic and he had to be euthanased on humane grounds. Jeremy raced for Betty Moran, owner of Papillon. He was trained by Sir Michael Stoute who saddled him to win the Jersey Stakes and to come back the next year to the Queen Anne Stakes where he was beaten a short head. Retiring to the Irish National Stud, his early successes with Yellow Rosebud, Princess Sinead and Gabrial’s Kaka were notable. The arrival of his son Our Conor as a new hurdling sensation changed Jeremy’s appeal and he relocated to Garryrichard Stud in County Wexford. The winners kept rolling in under both codes, but Our Conor was to meet an untimely end at Cheltenham 2014. This bad news was followed quickly by the emergence of Kool Kompany as the surprise package among the 2014 two-year-old crop. As a son of Champion Danehill Dancer and a direct descendent of Highclere, the family of Deep Impact and Nashwan, Jeremy was bred to be a champion.
