Jessica here: Looking at these photos Im reminded of just how strong this little boy is. He has been through SO much, yet always comes out with a smile on his face fighting like a champ. The first picture was taken the day after his surgery. The second was taken 5 days ago. What a difference! Whenever theres something I feel I cant do I look at Damiens pictures and think if he can go through all this, if he can face the demons that seek to destroy him, if he can TRIUMPH over it all-well then so can I. He is living proof that you can do anything you put your mind to. I spoke with Gail this morning and she reports that Damien is doing GREAT (minus the night terrors hes still plagued by) and that the kidney has woken up and Damien is peeing by the bucket fulls. I know that while Gail and Syris try to be brave and strong, with every day that has passed without Damien making enough urine, they were painfully reminded of the horrific events from the last transplant and the fact that after 4 months of being in the intensive care, having complication after complication, they still left without a working kidney. I know in the back of her head Gails been scared the same thing was gonna happen again this time. Having the surgeon tell them that this is absolutely a fully functioning kidney and Damien does NOT need dialysis anymore made all the difference and lifted that weight from her shoulders. I am SO happy they are finely getting some well earned good news. Praise God for this miracle we are all blessed to witness. As you all know today is $2 Tuesday and we are asking each of you to simply donate $2 by clicking on the link below (in blue). This family has been through so much and as Gail says, their struggles are not over. Transplant is NOT A CURE and many many things can go wrong, especially during the first year. Lets ban together to give them the support they need so they can focus solely on Damiens recovery and learning all they need to as they prepare to bring him home in the coming days. They have courageously battled this awful disease for 5 1/2 years, waiting patiently for this day to come. Now that its here I dont want them to come home to a mountain full of unpaid bills and the expenses that occur with a major surgery and nearly month long hospital stay. With so many kind and wonderful folks rallied behind Damien and his family I KNOW we can do this. $2 is so small-barely more than a cup of coffee but combined with the small offerings of a mere $2 from many can and will be HUGE! Each of us has the power to make a difference in this little boys life. As Gail says, Together we CAN make a difference!. Lets prove that true today. Lets ban together and give them the financial relief they need so they can truly rejoice in the success of Damiens transplant. Thank you in advance and God bless lm.facebook/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgofundme%2FDamien-McCauley-Fund&h=oAQEXxIWo&s=1
