Jesus, Present from the Beginning August 8, 2014 God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit – our three person triune God, is God. He has been present eternally. He created the “beginning” when He created the Earth, the sun, the moon: “he made the stars also.” (Genesis 1:16) I love the fact that God diminished the significance of the stars by speaking of them as almost an afterthought – “he made the stars also.” The vastness of His universe is just an afterthought. The latest estimate of the number of galaxies in the universe is between 100-200 Billion galaxies. Most galaxies are too far away to estimate the number of their stars, but it’s estimated that our Milky Way galaxy contains 100-400 Billion stars and our sun is just one of those stars. Our Almighty God took the time to invent, engineer and create the stars and galaxies in our universe - in an instant, as an afterthought - just to show us His infinite intellect and power. Amazing! “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) The name translated God in English is Elohim in Hebrew and is in plural form, representing our triune God. We can know the Holy Spirit was present too. “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:1 The Son of God was present also, because the following scripture refers to us and our, not me and my: perhaps referring to Christ’s image. “And God said, Let us make man in our image…” (Genesis 1:26) The most compelling evidence that Jesus, God the Son, was present is found in these two scriptures, among others: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1-3) “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:12-17) (“I AM” = Eternal and self-existent without beginning or end.) Jesus was there before the beginning, created everything and will always be – the great “I AM”.
