Jesus is Our Saviour READ: John 10:37-38-39: Jesus stood up and cried out, If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.‘’Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. The Jews REPEATEDLY accused Jesus of claiming to be GOD (John 10:33, John 5:18, Mark 2:7). Does Jesus deny it? Nope. In one incident He tells them He has more right than any judge to be called GOD, or to call Himself The Son of God, since JESUS (unlike judges who were sometimes figuratively referred to as gods; Psalm 82:6) was sanctified and sent into this world by the Father. Jesus then tells the Jews to examine the EVIDENCE rather than being offended by His words. Notice this only makes them MORE intent on killing Him. Why? Because He is NOT denying the accusation; He is AFFIRMING it (John 10:33-39). John 10:33 The Jews answered Him, For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because YOU, BEING A MAN, MAKE YOURSELF OUT TO BE GOD. 34 Jesus answered them, Has it not been written in your Law, I said, you are gods? 35 If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), 36 do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, You are blaspheming, because I said, I AM THE SON OF GOD? 37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father. 39 Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, and He eluded their grasp. The truth is, the Messiah can never be understood as a mere prophet, but as a Person who was both Divine and human. This is the truth of the Gospel, to reveal Jesus as the Son of God who came down to earth to bring about our redemption, and that is why non-believers are lied to about the real message of the Gospel. Man cannot please God by his own efforts. We need His power, through the Holy Spirit, to even approximate the goals of the Sermon on the Mount. In fact anyone who reads the Sermon on the Mount carefully will find that it shows the total inability of man to live according to the law of God. We are sinners, redeemed by the Most High God through His Son Jesus through his death and resurrection for those who believe. In Christ, God has taken our side, and declared his solidarity with us! Certainly this revealed truth is beyond our imagination. Now the deep spiritual hunger of human beings; whether they are Jews or Muslims, Marxist or atheists etc, can only be satisfied by Immanuel, the God who is with us. In Christ, God has become our Redeemer
