Jim is out of the MICU and up on the 10th Floor where he was before going to ICU. He still has his Levine catheter (feeding tube) and his Biliary drainage catheter, used to drain bile out of his intestines. One thing I learned today while he was getting ready to leave ICU when he said to the nurse, You really need to fix the heater, it is cold in here She said they keep it cooler in there because if they raise the temperature it will help bacteria to grow, and with all the illnesses in the ICUs they try and keep that from happening. Hmmmm....I never looked at it that way. Jim was glad to go up to the 10th floor where everyone knows him. He was able to relax and get some rest. However, the staff on 9F ICU did a fantastic job with him and were on top of him at all times! Thank you! We will spend the next few days getting Jim up and walking a little bit. They want him to be somewhat stronger going in to this surgery so that he will come out of it better. They are still planning on doing the open heart surgery. Hopefully early in the week. I am not even going to try and predict when and we will take this day by day. As the time is set definitely I will keep you all posted!!!
