Jimmy was scheduled to have chemo today; his chemo was postponed. Jimmy has either the beginning of an infection or he was exposed to a virus. His temp was 101. We were told that a simple cold to a normal person could essentially become a deadly pneumonia for Jimmy. Docs orders are for him to stay home isolated and rest until this passes. When Jimmy receives his chemo this Friday, his immune system will be suppressed even further. It is a tough struggle for Jimmy as well as the doctors. The Fox Chase doctors are exceptionally thorough. They took numerous cultures to find out what virus or bacteria is inside Jimmy. My husband was so disappointed when he was told NO CHEMO, he tried... but his blood count told the truth. I am in the process of pumping him up with chicken soup, cranberry juice/ grape and water. I am lecturing him to STAY AWAY from SICK people, even if they say they feel okay. Especially with the flu going around! "You can hug and kiss all of Philly if you want, but not until your chemo is on the upswing!" Stop being so ITALIAN! ARGH!
