Joanne Gontar You can place these boxes higher on top of something or on a table and put the entrance towards a wall to cut the wind..I use big blue barrles and always used straw stuffed completely so the cat surrounds himself with straw which is really best recommended rather than any material other than old fur coats because stray does not hold moisture which is always in the air in winter from the snow so it gets wet and icy and very cold..stray stays dry. Them I cover the barrel (or your bin) with an old heavy carpet and then a tarp or heavy duty plastic.
