Job Description: Operations Officer Closing Date: Sept 30th 2013 Location: Nairobi, Kenya ABOUT Africanscholar African Scholar provides information on scholarships available to African students, colleges and universities, test preparation, entry level jobs and internship opportunities. It also provides a platform for African students to interact with admissions specialists, scholarships administrators and other students around the world. JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Operations Officer will devise and lead key projects within Kenya while working closely with other partners within Africa. He/she will implement key collaborations/ partnerships, advocacy, education, sales & marketing, and fundraising strategy in close collaboration with other partners. He/she will lead on existing projects as well as devise and execute his/her own in the first 6 months. The position will require regular local travel for recruitment campaigns as well as for partnership drives and other student events. MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL: University degree in business management, education, IT, development studies or any other relevant field. Additional qualifications in IT or project management will be an added advantage. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Required: • Two years management experience, in voluntary/education/development/ sales & marketing sectors • Two years partnerships/key accounts/ PR/communications/ fundraising experience • Experience managing budgets and project staff • Excellent writing and presentation skills • Ability to confidently represent yourself and the brand to a wide variety of external stakeholders • Computer literacy in Word, Excel and PowerPoint • Professional level English required HOW TO APPLY If you are interested in applying for this position, please send your resume and cover letter to hr@africanscholar and kindly include the job title in the subject line.
