Applicants with significant experience leading community based conflict management organizations, nonprofits, public sector agencies, or those with significant links in or reputations for leadership in the practice community may also be considered for a non-tenure track Executive-in-Residence appointment. The position is contingent upon final budget approval. The Negotiations and Conflict Management (CNCM) program is seeking an individual that can contribute practice-oriented expertise to the graduate program. The scholarly and/ or practice specialization for this position is open. However, individuals that emphasize conflict management practice and those that can teach intervention skills will be given particular attention. Appropriate specialization areas include interpersonal, organizational, communal, public policy or international conflict management. Faculty rank is open. This position requires traditional classroom instruction at the graduate level and may also involve some undergraduate and online instruction. Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree at the time of appointment in the conflict management field, broadly construed to include peace studies, conflict analysis and resolution, conflict management, conflict transformation, or a similar course of study. Individuals with conventional and interdisciplinary degrees related to the conflict management field are also encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the rank for which they apply and clearly demonstrate the potential for quality instruction and leadership to their profession, the program, and the college. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be joining the well-established graduate program in Negotiations and Conflict Management (CNCM), an applied, cross-disciplinary Masters of Science program in the School of Public and International Affairs. The CNCM program is designed to expose students to conflict management in a variety of settings from the interpersonal to the international. The program’s 42-credit curriculum is delivered through a series of applied courses that enable students to see the link between conflict management theory and practice and prepares them for post-graduate success in a variety of settings in which conflict management skills are necessary. The CNCM program has approximately 120 degree-seeking students. The School of Public and International Affairs, within which the CNCM program is housed, has twenty full-time faculty with advanced degrees from an array of distinguished universities, including Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Syracuse, UC, Berkley, Columbia, and George Mason University. Three faculty members are Fellows in the National Academy of Public Administration and one is a Fulbright Scholar. The School is home to a nationally accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. In addition to SPIA, the College of Public Affairs houses the School of Health and Human Services and the School of Criminal Justice. The ability to offer courses and conduct research relevant to the College’s three schools is a plus. In addition, the College of Public Affairs is home to The Schaefer Center for Public Policy, an applied research unit.
