Job Opening at U of Arizona: Scholar with OWI Interests to join faculty in Rhetoric, Composition, & Teaching of English and Writing Program (Rank: Advanced Assistant, Associate, or Full)-- Review begins on 11-10-2014 (Continues until position filled) The Department of English at the University of Arizona invites applications for an advanced Assistant, Associate Professor, or Professor to join us as a tenure-track/tenured faculty member in the nationally ranked Rhetoric, Composition, and the Teaching of English (RCTE) Program and to build and lead a high quality curriculum in Online Writing Instruction (OWI). This curriculum in the Writing Program will be launched in conjunction with an innovative Online General Education Academy at the University of Arizona. We encourage candidates with experience teaching and administering online first-year writing and a strong background in rhetoric and composition to apply. This colleague will be a member of a collaborative leadership team in the Writing Program, graduate faculty in the Department of Englishs RCTE Program, and a campus leader in digital learning. We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record of effective administration, superior teaching, and well-established research. Duties and Responsibilities *Lead a collaborative team in the development, assessment, and administration of new online first-year writing courses in the Writing Program. *Design an innovative online writing curriculum with the support of an instructional design team and extensive technology resources. *Conduct an active program of professional research and publication. *Collaborate with colleagues across the Department, College, and University on research, educational, and outreach initiatives. *Teach graduate courses in RCTE and undergraduate courses in the Department (including the Writing Program). *Advise RCTE masters and doctoral students on professional activity, employment, research, and publication. *Contribute service to the Department, University, College, and community. Additional Minimum Qualifications *Applicants must have a PhD in Rhetoric & Composition, or a related field, experience in administering a college or university writing program, and experience teaching, and preferably developing, online writing courses. *Applicants also must have a record of productive scholarship, a superior teaching record, and the ability to collaborate within and across programs at the university level. Preferred Qualifications *Additional preferred areas of expertise or experience could include: WAC/WID, multimodal and technology-mediated composition, writing curriculum development, teacher development, writing program administration or assessment, critical technology studies, distance or e-learning program development or policy management, and instructional technology design and deployment.
