Job Title: Community Liaison/Child Specialist Urban based non-profit is seeking a Community Liaison/Child Specialist that will provide supportive services to families residing in 38126/38106 zip codes. Status: Full-Time Regular, Exempt/Salaried Position Reports to: Director, Universal Parenting Place Application Closing Date – January 15, 2015 Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility Develops a network of adjunctive service providers for internal and external referrals and maintains relationships with these professionals; Supervises, engages and observes children in the child care/play area while parents are participating in counseling sessions; Communicates potential issues with children and their behavior to Universal Parenting Center staff; Collaborates with Center staff to develop follow up strategies for parents. Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities Cultivates and develops relationships with community agencies for potential referrals in cases of domestic violence, addiction, mental illness, child abuse and/or neglect Promotes the services of the Universal Parenting Place to community agencies Engages in problem resolution on behalf of clients with issues involving community referrals Observes and evaluates the behavior of children who accompany parents attending counseling sessions at UPP Advises the Family Consultant and Family Coach of any identified issues or concerns Works collaboratively with staff to develop recommendations and coordinate any needed referrals for children and their parents Actively participates in community groups to include the Early Success Coalition Maintains accurate records of client interactions and referrals Performs other duties as assigned or directed Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree required in psychology, social work, professional studies or related field. Experience: Two to five years’ experience in health care, social service, child development and/or education. Desired Qualifications Experience: Ability to cultivate relationships with community groups; experience working with children in a therapeutic environment; marketing ability to promote UPP services; ability to work collaboratively and in a team environment. Physical Requirements Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) in addition to frequent walking and digital dexterity. Environmental Conditions Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office environment. Performance Standards 1. Job Title: Hospitality and Activities Coordinator Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: Provides a warm and welcoming environment for parents and children accessing the services of the Universal Parenting Place; Serves as the first contact for families coming to UPP and is responsible for setting the tone that all are welcome regardless of their economic, cultural or religious backgrounds; Greets guests, answers the phone line, assists with coordinating appointments with UPP staff and on site activities for families; Works with outside resources to arrange for adjunctive forms of therapy through the arts including music, film, movement, drama and other sensory based therapies.
