This could be for you… This non-automotive manufacturer is seeking a machining group manager for their manufacturing facility. This company is a leader in their field and has recently diversified their business. The machining group manager will report to the director of operations and have 46 direct and indirect reports. The machining group manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day performance of the machining production area. This includes meeting production requirements, making daily adjustments in scheduling, training and evaluating shift supervisors, process improvements, scrap reduction and safety and quality of their designated area. This position requires candidates to be on the floor up to 90% of their day. Candidates should enjoy creating and improving metrics and key performance indicators. The company is focused on continuous improvement; the supervisor will be focused on scrap reduction and efficiency improvement for their delegated area. Any exposure or certifications in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies will be strongly desired. Candidates should have continuous improvement and scrap reduction skills, be energetic, have the ability to coach and mentor others, be able to take ownership of projects, have good work history and enjoy floor presence. This position will participate and work in team oriented environments. Benefits are competitive, including profit sharing, 401K, medical and dental, short term disability, paid holidays and vacations. Requirements for the Machining Group Manager: 1. A minimum of an Associate’s Degree; a technical or operations degree is preferred 2. At least 5 years of RECENT production management experience overseeing supervisor, team leaders or production coordinators that oversees an hourly workforce 3. Recent (in the last 5 years) experience overseeing machining processes 4. Experience making adjustments to production schedules 5. The ability to read blueprints 6. General knowledge of GD&T 7. Continuous improvement experience 8. Experience overseeing production of multiple shifts 9. Exposure to ERP or MRP systems 10. Microsoft Office Skills that are preferred, BUT NOT required: 1. Lean or Six Sigma certifications 2. Job shop or batch processing environments 3. Exposure to 5S and Kaizen 4. Union supervision 5. Journeyman card 6. MAPICS Why work for this organization: 1.
