The job is full-time. 35-40 hours per week Job Description The Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre is a not-for-profit science centre which features a world class trilobite fossil site and collection, and Geological, Biological and Human History of the Manuels River and Conception Bay South. The Centre is operated by the Manuels River Natural Heritage Society, Inc. an organization committed to the preservation and interpretation of the natural, cultural and geological history of the river through the development of education, recreation and conservation opportunities along the river system and in the Interpretation Centre. Position Summary The Education Manager oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of on-going educational and interpretive programs including planning, organizing, marketing, maintaining, staffing and controlling program activities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Human Resources • Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization and comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards • Recruit and train interpretation staff Planning • Develop and deliver K-12 curriculum focusing on science and history of Manuels River • Coordinate post-secondary research activities • Develop new educational initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization • Develop programs for public groups and general admission that support the strategic direction of the organization Finance • ln collaboration with the Operations Manager, develop an annual budget and operating plan to support educational programming Marketing/Communications • Communicate with clients and other stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program • Contribute to the preparation and writing of reports on the program for presentation to management and funders Other Duties as Required.
