The Business Developer (BD) identifies potential business opportunities, along with capture managers or independently, develops the business case relative to the opportunities, develops the tactics, and teams needed to bring the opportunities to a bid decision and ultimately a proposal. This junior executive actively leads the business development function in an effective, organized, and aggressive manner Works closely with the Vice-President of Logistics, the Vice-President of Business Development, and the Executive Vice-President (EVP) to ensure all identified opportunities align with the vision and strategic plans of the corporation and can be properly resourced. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Serve as the Business Developer for Region 2 – (Atlantic Coast States and WV,NH,VT), and key member of the corporate business development team, contributing and support the company’s strategic direction. • Spearhead business development initiatives that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy. • Manage multiple business initiatives in a start-up environment. • Revenue generation and strategic partnerships development and management. • Build and manage a business development team. • Manage complex contract negotiation and work with legal counsel as required. • Win early customers with limited support. • Be the driving force in the development of the work ethic, culture and values of the sales and business development personnel. Through personal example, establish the style and approach which will characterize the Company’s dealings with the marketplace. • Implement and enforce company business ethics. Minimum Qualifications • Experience: 10 years plus of business development, marketing, and/or sales experience. • Experience marketing or selling services in a start-up or early stage environment • A solid understanding of Company’s market: services, competitors, strategic partners,, technologies, and a data base of contacts in related markets. • Military and/or government contracting experience required Exceptional Qualifications: • Experience: 15 or more years of experience in increasingly responsible management positions • Progressive experience in professional services industry business. • Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills, knowledge of the Government services business sector. • MBA, MS Marketing. Characteristics • Ability to work with schedules in a very "deadline driven" environment. • Flexible, calm, not easily upset by last minute changes, goes with the flow. • Must be firm, but understanding relative to work load and deadline requirements. • Comfortable working in both support and management roles. • Strong attention to details. • Works well independently. • Aggressive and Proactive. • Works well with others, professional, and a team player.
