Position Summary for Essential Functions Overall purpose of the position: In this role the employee will demonstrate the coaching, mentoring and counseling skills needed to train individuals with disabilities. This employee trains persons with disabilities in acclimating within a work environment and offers guidance and support for the individual to appropriately transition into work. Education: Associate’s degree in human services, behavior management, psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred. Experience: A minimum of one year of customer service experience required. One year or more of working with persons with disabilities in vocational, residential, a vocational program or setting is preferred. A valid driver’s license with fewer than -6 points is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 50% Individual Support and Training: Provide training, coaching, mentoring and counseling to individuals with disabilities in the areas of appropriate work attitudes, employability, work skills specific to individuals’ employment, social and communication skills, use of adaptive equipment and positive behavioral change in consultation with rehabilitation specialists and others. Utilize positive behavior management techniques in accordance with State of Virginia guidelines and MANDT behavior protocol. Ensure that all individuals receive the required training to enable them to meet their maxim um potential. Help train newly enrolled individuals by assisting with the transition process. Assist in developing creative methods and techniques that foster a learning environment that nurtures work, social and community skills. Assist with individuals’ personal needs as needed. Perform mobility training/transport for individuals as needed. 30% Reporting & Compliance: Train, monitor, support and transport via company vehicle 4-8 individuals in the group supported employment program. Complete required reporting documents. Assist in auditing sites for regulatory, procedural, and policy compliance. Familiarize self with and exercise the applicable personnel practices and policies of the work site, including OSHA standards and uniforms. Complete all required training to maintain licensing requirements and participate in training to develop professional skills as needed and requested. 20% Case-Management: Establish and maintain good communication with parents, guardians, residential counselors, and other professionals regarding the individuals’ overall progress. Coordinate the schedule for individual group training and community access outings. Non-Essential Functions The following are the non-essential functions of the position: • Assist with record keeping and documentation including monthly progress reports, medication, and incident reports, and production reports. • Enter data into database as needed. • Assist or substitute at other sites in order to maintain quality work. • Other duties as assigned.
