Job Title: PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT OFFICER (PROJECT POST), NO-3 Department/Office: United Nations Environment Programme Duty Station: BRAZZAVILLE Deadline: 8 July 2013 Job #:13-PGM-UNEP-27854-R-BRAZZAVILLE (E) The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations systems designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP’s Division of Environmental Policy Implementation (DEPI) works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and advisory services for the implementation of environmental policy, and strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition. This post is located in Terrestrial Ecosystems Unit (TEU) of the UNEP/DEPI at the Brazaville duty station. Under the supervision of the UNEP Regional Coordinator for Africa of the UNEP UN-REDD team, based in the Terrestrial Ecosystems Unit (TEU) of the DEPI, and in close collaboration with the National RED+ Coordinator of the Government of the Republic of the Congo, the incumbent will carry out the following duties: Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in either forestry, environmental economics, natural resouces management, environmental science, public policies or related area. A first university degree with a combination of two years professional and academic qualifications may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Work Experience A minimum of five years of experience of which at least 1 year in an international context. Experience in working on sustainable forest management; REDD+; and/or natural resources management, and natural resources economics. Working experience with the United Nations is an asset. Qualifying years of experience are calculated following the receipt of the first level university degree recognised by the United Nations. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral French is required. Working knowledge of English is required.
