Job Title: Summer Trading Associate Capital Markets Sales & Trading - This position is for MBA students only. Capital Markets Sales & Trading Our Sales and Trading businesses deal with a broad range of products and services including Capital Markets origination and syndication, Trading (including electronic and program trading capabilities) and Sales of Cash and Derivatives products across a wide range of asset classes including Foreign Exchange, Equities, Fixed Income and Commodities. Our relationship management teams ensure that our clients have access to all of our product lines across the globe. This synergistic approach to coverage among our major accounts has had a dramatic, positive impact on the dynamics within the division. It is this highly efficient business platform, coupled with our superior equities research capabilities, that has brought us to the forefront of our industry. Our Trading Floor is a major contributor to the overall performance of Wholesale Banking and CIBC. These individuals come from diverse educational, professional and internal backgrounds including Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Programming, CA, CFA, MBA, Middle Office, Finance and Risk Management. These diverse skill sets have allowed the group to be effective in achieving its mandate of providing high quality products and services to our clients. How the Program Works Our summer program provides successful candidates the opportunity to gain experience on our Equities and Fixed Income & Currencies Trading floors. Your experience will include: • Orientation, including classroom training • An assigned mentor • Scheduled learning sessions throughout the summer • Networking opportunities • A formal evaluation process Most importantly, Summer Associates interested in pursuing a career with CIBC will be given consideration for full-time opportunities in the Capital Markets Trading program. Summer opportunities with our Capital Markets Trading floor may include: • Cash Equities • Commodities • Debt Capital Markets • Derivatives • Electronic Trading • Equity Sales or Trading • Equity Capital Markets • Fixed Income/Money Markets • Foreign Exchange • Prime Brokerage • Securitization • Growth Markets Key Accountabilities/Activities Summer Associates will need to be effective communicators capable of building relationships both internally and with clients. They will need to provide detailed analytical, financial modeling, structuring, research and transaction support to senior professionals in their business, helping to identify opportunities to win business and execute transactions. Requirements: • Enrollment in a graduate degree program to be completed by August 2016 • Knowledge of business, economics and/or financial markets acquired through education and/or experience • Highly effective written and oral communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills and an ability to explain complex concepts • Strong interest in and knowledge of financial markets • Strong technical, computational and analytical skills • Strong orientation to excellence and a focus on results • Excellent interpersonal skills, a proven ability to contribute to high performance teams and a demonstrated commitment to acting with integrity • Ability to multi-task and meet the demands of a dynamic and fast-paced market environment • Proven record of academic success, teamwork and extracurricular activities Opportunities for Students We have openings in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
