Job openings at USACE. Look under USAJobs (https://usajobs.gov/) Hi Ron, I wanted to give you a heads up that our Design Branch is going to be looking for three engineering technician students in the next couple of months. Below are the three positions we have planned, and once the slow wheels of the bureaucracy turn the correct number of revolutions we will get going. I will give you a heads up when we announce. 1. Civil Engineering Technician; primarily for survey. Desired skills include survey, CAD (Bentley Microstation/Inroads), and potentially GIS (ESRI ArcGIS). 2. Civil Engineering Technician for general Civil and Geotechnical work. This is primarily a CAD position, but may include dam and/or levee inspection and instrumentation. 3. Mechanical Engineering Technician for Mechanical Design. This is primarily a CAD position, but may include Solidworks modeling under the direction of an engineer, or other design tasks. I think the best scenario for us is someone who you would recommend that is just finishing their first year. I think we are more interested in the quality of the individual (willingness to learn, hard worker, ability to follow instructions, high motivation, good attention to detail, etc.) as opposed to specific skills. We will train, as needed. If you have any questions, please let me know. I am the likely hiring official for the first position, and I can get you in contact with the other two supervisors if needed. In addition, there is the possibility that we will be looking for a Civil Engineering student. This is not as firm, so I will let you know. Talk to you soon. Marcus D.
