Job position: Project Manager Tumaini University Makumira has received a grant from the European Development Fund for the project ?Traditional Music and Dance Preservation and Promotion in Northern Tanzania? and now invites applications for the position of Project Manager. Requirements: 1) Masters Degree or equivalent in one of the following areas: Project Management, Music/Arts, or Tourism. 2) Open to persons from any country, but the successful candidate will document work experience of at least 5 years in both Tanzania and in Europe or America. Expert knowledge of both cultures and languages (English/Kiswahili) is required. 3) Demonstrated success in collaborative cross-cultural grant projects needed. Work experience with NGOs and educational institutions is preferred. Experience as a producer, manager, director and/or performer for arts projects is essential. Because of the need for multiple skills over specific and varied areas, this person will be considered an expert. Primary job responsibilities: Putting the ideas expressed in the grant proposal into action, including: 1) Collaborating with the Tumaini University Makumira office of Administration for oversight of the Project. 2) Ensuring compliance with the terms of the grant contract with respect to services, goods, and works, including hiring of local and international staff. Overseeing preparation of required reports according to the appointed schedule. 3) Coordinating work with the approved local partners (Kilimanjaro Film Institute and Alliance Franco-Tanzanienne of Arusha). 4) Executing activities of the project in accordance with the approved budget Main aspects of the grant project include: 1) Creating an Archive Centre offering training and making documentation of traditional music from Maasai, Meru, and Chagga traditions 2) Creating a Traditional Dance Centre and professional performance ensemble that will be promoted for local and international tourism 3) Developing school outreach programmes, an instrument workshop and short-term guest artists-in-residency programmes, and a professional training programme (non-degree) for traditional dancers and artists. 4) Implementing construction of a music village to house all of the activities Deadline to apply with a letter of interest, CV, and any supporting materials is 24/03/14 at Cultural Heritage Project, Tumaini University Makumira, P.O.
