Joe Drummond I have never told anyone this story before. When my dad was principal at Emmons, before every Thanksgiving he and my mother prepared large baskets of food for the families of the poorest children who attended Emmons. Then, I accompanied my dad over the course of several evenings delivering the baskets. Some of the homes were dilapidated shacks, without any utilities. Then, my dad and mom repeated the same thing for each Christmas, but this time he and I also delivered presents for each of the children in these families. I dont think anyone other than the families we delivered the food and presents to ever knew anything about this.
