Joe Ratterman spent most of the 2014 track and field season pole-vaulting as little as possible – just enough, according to Elder vault coach Rick Christoph, to win meets and try for records. The Panther senior wont have that luxury this weekend. Ratterman, who finished 11th in the state last year, posted one of the states top three vaults during last weekends regional competition to win the championship and earn a return trip to Columbus for this weekends state meet. Rattermans vault of 15 feet even – one inch below his personal best – left him tied with two other regional champions for the states best Division I qualifying height.
