Joel’s writings have many dichotomies from the beginning of his bringing TIW message out to the end. Joel was a Christian Science practitioner with a very successful healing record and it was only natural, at first, to say it was OK to seek help; however, in the end, it was clear in the Mystical message that if you were seeking help, you were accepting an appearance that was not real. When Jesus said to the cripple “rise, and sin no more,” He was referring to the sin being thinking you are separate and apart from God, less than perfect, and had no need for a healing. You cannot say in one breath “I am God in expression” and in the next breath say “I need help”—it doesn’t compute! You’re studying a Mystical teaching but staying in the Metaphysical realm as long as you believe you need help with any appearance that arises. The distinction between the Mystical and the Metaphysical is simply this: in Metaphysics it is “God and” a problem to be resolved; in Mysticism, it is “God as” with no problem in God’s world. Fear of a situation is what makes you reach out for help and as long as you have a fear, you are in a metaphysical state of mind and maybe should seek a practitioner. To live TIW teachings as you’ve been reading, you have to stand against the fear realizing it is a mirage trying to make you believe you and God are not one and the same. Bottom line: you either prove these Teachings to whatever “trial and tribulation” comes your way, facing your fear as being unreal, achieving a GIA or go back to Unity, Christian Science, etc. because that is where your consciousness is if you seek help. You can’t have it both ways…. This may sound harsh and critical, but unfortunately, it is the truth. Only you can determine what level of consciousness you will achieve in this study—like Joel says often, put the books down and apply these Principles to your Goliaths and watch them disappear into the nothingness that they are.
