John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John Every individual person comes from somewhere and sent by someone higher than him with a particular assignment to do and having a special name given. Such was John, he did not came of his own accord, the Holy Book testifies of him that he was sent of God which implies that the assignment he came to do was given not by his father - Zechariah but by the God who dwell in the heavenly. Unlike many who has come in the name of God but was sent by him. Little wonder than such people never last or have a fulfilled ministry, they are like chaff which is blown away by little movement of breeze. Another important thing worthy of note in John. was the name he bears. His name was given long before he was conceived (Luke 1:13), at his birth he was to bring joy to many and to be great in the sight of God(Luke 1:14-15). His coming brought hope to the hopeless situation of Israel. The meaning of his name connote GRACE & MERCY. His parent never had the idea of his name until it was announced.
