John 12:43 For they loved the approval & the praise & glory that come from man (instead of and) more than the glory that comes from God. (They valued their credit with men more than their credit with God). Why do we do what we do? Is our motives pure? Do we do good deeds to be noticed of others? To get something in return? If we are doing good deeds for any other reason than to please God then its absolutely useless. What about doing things other people expect us to do? How many of us are going in circles because we are doing things other people are expecting of us? The christian life is not meant to be full of stress; Jesus does not call us to this. Matt. 11:30 says for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. So begin today to free yourself from expectations of others and do whatever it is the Lord has called you to do. If its to visit someone, cook a meal, call a friend, teach a sunday school class, do it because the Lord has led you that way not because someone else thinks you should. God Bless!
